Writing Sample #1 (Game Story)

“Win in First Professional Outing”

Pitch in your professional debut after a long day of airplane travel?  Sounds like disaster.  It was a disaster for the opposition as Tucson right hander Randy Keen made masterful use of a changeup and pitched the Saguaros to a 7-1 win last night at Kino Stadium.

Writing Sample #2 (News Release)

“U of A Baseball Rounds Out Recruiting Class”

The University of Arizona has the 2017 baseball recruiting class set.  Head coach Jay Johnson announced the addition of three infielders, two outfielders, and a catcher to join the 2016 national champion runner up squad.  The new group is mostly from California with Nevada and Texas contributing athletes.  One player is from “up the road” in Glendale.

GAME 44 SAT JUL 20 NOTES
by Allen Scott, KGOE Radio

Hard-luck pitcher Drew Bradshaw was sailing along with a 3-1 lead when one bad pitch resulted in a home run. After doing a fine job of pitching over 6 innings but with an elevated pitch count, Drew was relieved with the score tied at 3. Then the Crabs went on to score 4 runs in the top of the 9th inning to post a win for reliever Steve Thompson, who went the last 2 innings plus giving up no runs.
